Through this project, we try to show to the youth, and with their intermediation to children, that one does not need laboratories to love natural sciences and to engage in science.

QUICK FACTS ON

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE PROJECT

In this project, young individuals first participate in a training program titled ‘Scientific Literacy’, designed with non-formal education modules.

Through this project, we try to show the youth, and with their intermediation to children, that one does not need laboratories to love natural sciences and to engage in science: Science permeates our daily lives, and that all we need to do is observe what goes around us and ask the question "Why?"

In this project, young individuals first participate in a training program titled ‘Scientific Literacy’, designed with non-formal education modules.

Later on, they become 'Science Ambassadors' to carry out volunteer work among primary school children, encouraging them to show an interest in and love natural sciences.

To us, scientific literacy is not knowing all there is to know about science, but rather, being curious about, exploring and understanding how science works.

BYSAP Science Seeds Team organizes various activities with children from rural settlements across the seven regions of Turkey. Through this project, we try to show the youth, and with their intermediation to children, that one does not need laboratories to love natural sciences and to engage in science. To us, scientific literacy is not knowing all there is to know about science, but rather, being curious about, exploring and understanding how science works.
Scientific literacy also helps individuals grasp the scientific concepts and processes they need for decision-making, civic participation, as well as cultural relations and production. As such, this project supports youngsters and children in becoming individuals who can question various issues in their daily lives, observe natural events, and try to make sense of all of these phenomena.
