Ankara Akdere – Village Culture and Arts Project
As part of this initiative carried out by the Yıldırım Beyazıt University Community Volunteers Club in Ankara, a comprehensive renovation process was conducted at the village school in Akdere to strengthen the educational environment for children. Led by young volunteers, the project refreshed the school’s interior and exterior paint, brightened up the classrooms, and adapted the learning spaces to meet the children’s needs.
Educational materials in the classrooms were updated, a library was established to increase children’s access to books, and a design and skills workshop was created to foster students’ creativity. Additionally, culture- and art-focused activities were organized to provide experiences that support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Throughout the project, Community Volunteer youth added color to the children’s days through educational workshops, creative activities, and play-based learning, while making tangible improvements to the school’s infrastructure. Shaped by the efforts of 25 young volunteers, this initiative became an exemplary practice within the “With Me, With the Republic” program, aiming to create an equitable, accessible, and vibrant learning environment at the local level.
