Gender Equality for Full Equality!
Since its establishment, the Community Volunteers Foundation has prioritized gender equality and has been carrying out activities within the Gender Mainstreaming Program, founded in 2011. Through dissemination trainings, TOG brings together young people and various private-sector institutions to promote gender equality.
Within the Gender Mainstreaming Program, our work aims to raise awareness among young people aged 17–25 on gender equality, positive discrimination, nonviolent communication, safe relationships, the women’s movement, fundamental gender-related concepts, violence, methods of combating violence, and national and international legal frameworks. We conduct both online and in-person trainings to enable young people to deliver peer-learning sessions at their universities, with the goal of reaching 500 young participants.
Why Should There Be Gender Equality Trainings?
According to the World Economic Forum’s 2023 report, Türkiye ranks 129th out of 146 countries in the gender equality index. UN reports indicate that individuals face discrimination based on gender in areas such as employment, education, social participation, political participation, and the division of domestic labor. We believe that identifying these areas of discrimination and addressing inequalities requires that young people have access to gender equality trainings.
How Will We Achieve Gender Equality?
With young people leading and adults guiding, we aim to create a multiplier effect through peer education. University students aged 17–25 who receive instructor training will apply what they have learned in the field, generating powerful impact starting from small groups.
One of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals is to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls who face discrimination. For this reason, we continue our work with the motto: “Gender Equality for Full Equality!”
