As part of the EUPeace Project, we undertook the training tender opened by the Çukurova Development Agency and delivered a comprehensive Volunteering and Civil Society Training for the university’s faculty members on November 24–25. For us at the Community Volunteers Foundation (TOG), this initiative was a meaningful step toward strengthening the content of volunteering courses and creating more opportunities for young people to engage in social participation.
EUPeace is an international peace and inclusivity initiative carried out in partnership with nine universities from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Czechia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Türkiye. This training, designed to enhance the volunteering courses of Çukurova University—the sole partner representing Türkiye in the project—became an important meeting where TOG brought its field experience into the academic sphere.
On the first day of the two-day program, we held introductory activities with academics teaching volunteering and community service courses, concept workshops, and discussions on the historical development of civil society. The second day of the training focused on TOG’s learning approach, practical workshop suggestions for academics working with young people, and examples of Community Volunteers’ projects from the field. In this way, we offered rich theoretical and practical content, revisiting with faculty members how young people develop solutions to social issues.
This gathering became a productive step that strengthened volunteering efforts at the university and supported young people’s social participation.
