Purpose of Education:

As the Youth Association for Understanding, we aim for young people to develop their communication skills, get to know different cultures, question their prejudices and become aware of their own cultural values. In this context, we are implementing the Colored Glasses workshops, which are implemented in many countries around the world, in Türkiye. Our workshop will be carried out with an interactive and participatory approach based on common education methods.
 

Content of Training:

  • Warm-up and Group Dynamics:

To build trust among participants,

Ensuring group harmony through games and activities that encourage communication and interaction.

  • Exercises on Culture and Identity:

What is culture and how is cultural identity formed?

Activities that help participants explore their own cultural backgrounds.

  • Prejudice and Stereotypes Workshops:

How stereotypes and prejudices are formed,

Practical exercises for participants to notice and question these patterns.

  • Experiences of Discrimination and Developing Empathy:

Simulations or role-playing exercises to understand the experiences of individuals who are discriminated against,

Practices to develop emotional awareness and empathy.

  • Human Rights and Responsibility:

Brief information on basic human rights,

Mini-group activities where young people can discuss their rights and responsibilities.

  • Closing and Evaluation:

Participants share their experiences throughout the day,

Feedback on the training process.

  • Methods:

Role playing and improvisation techniques

Small group studies

Storytelling

Discussion and reflective thinking exercises

Gains:

  • Gaining the ability to act together as individuals who form society
  • Gaining awareness of stereotypes, prejudices, discrimination and inequality
  • Being able to understand and evaluate the situations experienced by individuals who are discriminated against and to respond sensitively to these situations.
